Ministries

Our ministry is based on the Great Commission which says, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20. Each ministry has been developed and structured to follow the constructs of these basic principles.

The process and objective of ministry work is defined as "to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Each ministry within Greater St. John is created to prepare the saints to minister to others.

Brotherhood
Deacon R. Dumas | President

The goal and purpose of the brotherhood is expressed in Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." The brotherhood is designed "just for men" to equip them to live for Christ in the home, church, workplace, and community.

Deacon Board
Deacon B. Jones | President

The deacons help address members' needs as they arise. These "men of honest report" further Christs' kingdom by being an example to his family and others, maintaining unity, protecting the overall welfare of the church, supporting the pastoral staff, and serving the church body.

Ushers and Greeters Ministry
Sister D. Jones | President

The ushers greet people as they enter the door

with the compassion of Jesus, and usher them to their seats in a friendly, organized manner,

support worshippers should they need

assistance, pass out envelopes and handouts,

and assist with other duties as needed.

Choir
 | President

The church choir supports and enhances the service by ushering people into praise and worship of the Father, through anointed music. The music ministry inspires, trains, and directs those whom God has called into this ministry with a spirit of service, excellence, sensitivity, purity, humility, and strength.

Pastor's Aide
Sister F. Sheffield | President

1 Timothy 5: 17-18 says "Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching." The pastor's aide supports the pastor financially, spiritually  and morally. They show love, support, encouragement, strength and service to the pastor and his family.
Women's Ministry
Sister F. Sheffield | President

The sisterhood provides studies and events specifically designed to help women "tune out" the pressures of the day and "tune in" to a Christ-centered life of meaning, passion, purpose, and growth.
Youth Ministry
Sister R. Franklin | Director

We believe our children are the world's future. The next generation needs guidance and relevent teaching like never before. We endeavor to provide them with a nurturing atmosphere to produce kingdom warriors and facilitate our goal that every child develop a relationship with Jesus.
